Virgin Mary of the Underpass

If you happened to be in Chicago around in the spring of 2005, you might driven past the Virgin Mary of the Underpass at Fullerton Street. It seems wherever Mary pops up she brings the drama! After hundreds of people flocked to see the Virgin Mary, or "salt stain" as some pagans have put it, Mary was painted over, then unpainted, then painted again. The city cited safety reasons in covering up Mary for the final time. The only thing I know for sure is that salt stains can make some beautiful shades of blue.
